Questions received after the due date and time will NOT be considered. Pickleball has grown to be a very popular recreational activity, from family recreation to organized tournament play. Over the years a number of pickleball enthusiasts have approached the City of Chandler requesting that pickleball courts be constructed within Chandler's parks. Since 2018, the City has constructed ten (10) pickleball courts within Chandler's existing parks. Despite those projects, the Parks and Recreation Strategic Plan, adopted by Council in August 2021, found that the City is deficient in meeting the national standard pickleball court ration of one court per 12,000 people. With this project, Chandler will exceed this recommendation at today's population, with the goal of continuing to meet or exceed the standard as the population grows. To meet the continuing demand of this growing recreational activity, funding for the construction of eighteen (18) pickleball courts at Tumbleweed Park has been approved in the 2024-2033 Capital Improvement Program. This project includes pre-construction and construction services for 18 standard post-tensioned concrete pickleball courts and accompanying amenities including but not limited to: parking lot with approximately 130 spaces, sidewalk, landscape, irrigation, restroom, equipment storage, lighting, benches, practice areas, and shade canopies. Construction efforts may also include 3 standard post-tensioned concrete tennis courts at the Chandler Tennis Center, the construction of these tennis courts will be dependent on available funding. Services may include bid estimation, value engineering, constructability reviews, material sourcing, ordering of long-lead items, and other services as needed. The project will require coordination with the design consultant, Dig Studios, Inc. The estimated construction cost for this project ranges from $3,000,000 to $5,000,000. The CMAR Team is expected to provide construction work for the Project, adjacent improvements, or utility improvements, and is expected to stay within the City's estimated budget. *The value for this project is based on a financial range.
