As of November 5, 2024, an architect has been selected. The City of Irving Capital Improvements Program Department invites Architects, multi-disciplinary firms, and any other qualified professionals to submit qualification proposals to provide professional services for Architectural Design and Engineering for the replacement of the swimming pool facility located in Senter Park, Irving, Texas. This facility addition will include a 100% demolition of the existing swimming facility, design of a new indoor family-oriented pool with zero depth entry and children's aquatic features, to include all mechanical spaces, changing rooms, restrooms, and lifeguard structures. The facility will also make a connection with the existing recreation center with the new facility becoming the main public entrance. The estimated 24,000 SF addition will also have a central control desk, offices for both Recreation and Aquatic staff, party rooms and a conference room. BACKGROUND Senter Park is a 34.73-acre park located in the South Park Planning District. Next to Delaware Creek, this park is Irving's oldest park. Current amenities in the park include an outdoor community pool, the over 35,500 square foot Senter Recreation Center, outdoor sand volleyball court, tennis court, playground and trail. The park is bordered by Senter Rd on the east side, 7th Street to the north and Delaware Creek to the south and west. Senter Park Swimming Pool opened in 1954 and consists of a 9,300 SF pool with a separate children's pool. It sits adjacent to the Senter Park Recreation Center. The 2019 Parks Master Plan recommends a multi-generational aquatic facility at Senter Park. Funding has been secured to provide a year-round indoor swimming facility which would expand into the existing recreation center. The 2023 Feasibility Study reviewed this possibility and provided schematic plans, programming and pro forma. It is anticipated that the Notice to Proceed will be issued by January 25, 2024 with 100% construction documents being issued for bidding September 30, 2024.
