Reference Number 0000261305 Question Acceptance Deadline 2024/01/15 03:00:00 PM EST This Request for Proposal (RFP) is an invitation by the University to qualified Vendors (Proponents) to submit Proposals for fire extinguisher maintenance and inspection services as outlined in Appendix H (Service Requirements and Desired Outcomes) for a term of three (3) years with the option to extend the contract for one (1) additional term of two (2) years at mutual consent (total of five (5) years). The scope of work shall include eleven (11) monthly inspections, one (1) annual inspection, servicing (Testing, maintenance, Hydrostatic testing, and refilling) and the replacement of some portable fire extinguishers listed to be change. Additional work will be required to correct deficiencies identified during the annual inspections. There are approximately 2,543 Portable fire Extinguishers in service on the campuses. A total of 66 buildings with different classification of occupancy hazard. (Three Campuses - Main Campus, Lees Campus- RGN Campus) A variety of Portable extinguishers are provided to protect a hazardous occupancy for Class A fires, Class B fires, Class C fires, Class D fires or Class K fires. Maintenance and testing of portable extinguishers shall be in conformance with NFPA 10, "portable Fire Extinguishers." Persons performing maintenance and recharging of extinguishers shall be trained by the Successful Proponent. Fire extinguishers removed from service or for testing shall be immediately replaced with extinguishers that are suitable for the type of hazard being protected and shall be of at least equal rating. Each portable extinguisher shall have a tag securely attached to it showing the maintenance or recharge date, the servicing agency and the signature of the person who performed the service. A permanent record containing the maintenance date, the examiner's name and a description of any maintenance work or hydrostatic testing carried out shall be prepared and maintained for each portable extinguisher. Office of emergency management (OEM) / Fire Safety shall have real time access to these records at all times. The Successful Proponent shall coordinate, schedule, and perform the work and operations in such a manner to minimize inconveniences, hazards and disturbances to the buildings occupants and to ensure their safety. Coordination shall be done with the Office of emergency Management Office (OEM) / Fire Safety for planning in some restricted areas since The Successful Proponent shall at no time enter restricted areas unless granted permission by the OEM/ Fire Safety. The following locations are considered restricted areas: RGN: Animal care and Class 2 labs in the first-floor section 1500 ARC: Level 1, room 144, and some laser labs on the main floor. Follow the instruction on the wall signage of the location. STEM: Level 00, room 0016, room 0020, Other room follow the direction identified on the door for protection (PPE) and access. 141 Louis-Pasteur: Protection office section (Require making arrangement with Fire Safety (Richard Sincennes) for access.
