The purpose of this RFP is to acquire the services of an experienced and qualified network system vendor(s) to provide, install, configure, and warranty a new wired network infrastructure. The new wired network system is to include the following: District core and data center aggregation switch equipment External Connectivity Infrastructure Building MDL and closet (IDL) switch equipment Mandatory switch component options Mandatory solution component options Alternate District core and data center aggregation switch equipment Installation/integration services Warranty services Due to the age and capabilities of the current equipment at the core, aggregation and distribution layers, and network access layers, the District is seeking proposals to replace the current wired network infrastructure. The current wired network inventory, which the District is seeking to replace, is shown in Appendix B. As evident from this current inventory, the District has standardized the use of Extreme Networks equipment for its wired network infrastructure. Vendors are requested to propose Extreme Networks upgrades or may propose equivalent solutions using another Tier-1 network equipment manufacturer such as Cisco Systems, Hewlett-Packard, and Juniper Network. The acceptance of a solution will be at the sole discretion of the District. The vendor is responsible for ensuring that the solution represents a fully functioning solution in accordance with the performance expectations detailed in this RFP. A brief description for each component of the requested base bid is provided below: 2.2.1 District core and data center aggregation equipment The District is seeking proposals for a fully functional turnkey network core solution that will function as the aggregation point for the district WAN and data center Top of Rack (ToR) switches.
