Site work for a municipal facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. Completed plans call for site work for a municipal facility.

Division of Wildlife Resources. Fence construction. Fence construction services and rangeland fence and fence installation It is strongly recommended that each potential bidder ensure that he/she has a complete understanding of the requirements of this project. Bidders are urged to inspect the site where services are to be performed and to satisfy themselves regarding all general and local conditions that may affect the cost of contract performance, to the extent that the information is reasonably obtainable. In no event shall failure to inspect the site constitute grounds for a claim after contract award. Location and Description: Lou Springs Exclosure Fence Construction project is located approximately 48 miles southwest of Milford, Utah. Elevations range from 6,900 to 7,080 feet within the project site. Miles: .69 miles (3,638 feet) Access to the site: Access onto the project site is provided by a combination of paved highways, county dirt surface roads and jeep trails. Four (4) wheel drive vehicles are recommended in and around the project area. It will be the contractor's responsibility to get the equipment to the work site. SPECIFIC TASKS: Work Limits: Only areas shown on the Project Map will be fenced. A shapefile for GPS and a PDF map of the project area will be provided prior to work beginning. Survey markers will indicate the location of the new fence. It will be the contractor's responsibility to furnish either a GPS unit(s) or smartphone(s) with PDF map application to be utilized in identifying project boundaries. Contractor(s) will be responsible to download all needed shapefiles/PDFs using their own devices. Shapefiles/PDFs will be provided in email upon request. Government staff (Project Inspector) will identify unit boundaries for the work executed under the contract. The Contractor shall immediately upon entering the project area, begin treatment work, locate treatment boundaries, locate control points, section corners, and take such action to prevent their destruction. Cedar posts shall be vertical, sturdy, dirt packed solid and in straight alignment with the fence on each side. o Cedar posts shall be spaced on a maximum of 10-foot centers. They may be closer together depending on existing posts in some locations, ground conditions, rocks, terrain, H-braces, gates, etc. o The top of the cedar wood posts shall be notched of the rail a minimum of 1 inch, the lodgepole top rail placed on the notch, and the top rail secured with 8-inch timber/log landscaping screw and driven through each. Lodgepole rails must be drilled to prevent splitting the ends. Similarly sized ends of the rails should be matched together at the joints. o The center of each top rail shall sit on top of a cedar wood post and be nailed or screwed with an 8-inch timber/log landscaping screw. o The top of all wood posts shall be cut off flush with the top of the lodgepole rail. o All posts shall be set plumb (vertical), in complete straight alignment with fence lines, unless fence is curving, dirt packed solid around wood posts and be sturdy. o All completed fences shall be in straight alignment, taut and solid at all points. o Barbed wire spacing, from ground up, shall be 16 inches, 8 inches, 8 inches and 8 inches (See Document 1). o Barbed wire must be stretched tight with similar tension on all strands, shall not sag or be loose in any areas, and shall not be twisted between posts to tighten strands. o Barbed wire shall be placed on the side of wood posts farthest away from the springs. o Each barbed wire strand shall be stapled to each wood post and staples shall not be driven in tight such that they bend or pinch the barbed wire. o A total of 2 steel gates (8 feet in length) will be installed. o All gates will be constructed and attached securely. o Each corner on the wood top rail with 3 strands barbed wire fence will have two double H-braces. o Double H-braces consist of 3 cedar posts spaced 5' - 6' apart with 2 wood post (treated or untreated) horizontal braces placed between notched posts with an X-style twisted tight, smooth wire tie between two wood posts. o The X wire tie shall be crossed above and below the horizontal brace such that the wire holds the brace in place when twisted tight. o The horizontal cross brace shall be placed low enough so that a lodgepole top rail can be nailed to the top of the wood posts at a height of 46". o H-braces shall be vertical, sturdy, dirt packed solid and in straight alignment with the fence on each side. SITE VISIT: It is strongly recommended that each potential bidder ensure that he/she has a complete understanding of the requirements of this project. Bidders are urged to inspect the site where services are to be performed and to satisfy themselves regarding all general and local conditions that may affect the cost of contract performance, to the extent that the information is reasonably obtainable. In no event shall failure to inspect the site constitute grounds for a claim after contract award.. Only questions specific to the site should be asked at the site. All other questions related to this solicitation, specifications, or bidding procedures MUST be asked in writing in SciQuest. There are no exceptions to this. Questions asked at the site visit, and subsequent answers will be recorded and posted on SciQuest so that all potential bidders can review questions and answers.
