The University of California, Santa Cruz, is soliciting a written response from qualified Geotechnical and Structural firms to provide "on call" special inspections and materials testing services. Services may include field labor/inspection and laboratory testing for, but not limited to: Reinforced Concrete Post Tensioned Concrete Structural Masonry Structural Steel and connections Soils (grading, excavation, and filling) Asphalt concrete (hot mix asphalt and rubberized hot mix asphalt) Foundations (piles and piers) Reinforcing steel Concrete Shotcrete Precast concrete Engineered wood products such as glulam beams and "I" joists Cladding Glazing Post installed anchors and dowels (installation and proof load testing) Shear walls and floor systems used as high load diaphragms Fire-proofing/Fire-resistant materials (sprayed and mastic & intumescent), fire-resistant penetrations and joints, and firestop assemblies and details High strength bolting Nondestructive testing (NDT) Further, the consultant team shall have the ability to perform the following: 1. Asphalt concrete pavement inspection, steel and Portland cement concrete inspection, welding inspection, pile driving inspections (Caltrans), Caltrans-certified testers/samplers and other as needed type of special inspection and material testing services. 2. Sampling of cast concrete cylindrical specimens and test for concrete compressive strength; and shotcrete production core sampling and testing per ASTM Standards. 3. Welding inspections of a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), Ultrasound Testing and Magnetic Particle Testing (UT-MT) Inspector certified by the American Welding Society (AWS). Structural Steel Bolting per American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) Standards. 4. Document test data and observations through regular and end-of-job summary reports. Reports should describe the activities performed at the time of field services. See RFQ for full listing of potential services. Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the selection of at least 2 (two) firms to provide "on call'' special inspections and materials testing services during the design and construction phases of various construction projects with a value greater than $5 Million at UC Santa Cruz or other off campus facilities. The potential projects will range in size and complexity depending on the project scope and site conditions. Project size and cost will vary. Based on the qualifications presented in response to the RFQ, the University will select at least two firms best able to provide services for the project. The initial term of the Agreement shall be three (3) years, and may be extended for up to two (2) additional one (1) - year terms based upon the same terms and conditions, and by mutual agreement. Consulting services will be provided under the University of California's Blanket Professional Services Agreement (Blanket PSA). When needed, the selected consultant must be able to start work immediately and provide staff support in alignment with the specific project schedule. Interested firms will be required to submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) and other documentation demonstrating related experience using standard forms provided by the University. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University policy. Each candidate firm may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The University reserves the right to request, receive, and evaluate supplemental information after the above time and date at its sole determination. Tentative schedule for completion of review of SOQs, interviews of 'short listed' firms, and selection of consultant firms for the project is anticipated to be in February, 2024. Do not submit qualifications statements, brochures or other information before receiving the University's standard forms.
