As of July 25, 2024, Oak Park trustees approved an engineer to do the preliminary redesign on the bridge. The bridge will be replaced along with the Interstate 290 reconstruction. Design work could start as soon as fall 2024 and will take about 16 months. * Bidding information below The Village of Oak Park, Illinois (the Village) is issuing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to solicit qualifications from interested engineering firms to provide Phase I Preliminary Engineering Services and Phase II Design Engineering Services for the Home Avenue Pedestrian Bridge Replacement (IDOT Structure Number 0162060). The objective of this project is to replace and widen the deteriorating bridge. The selected consultant shall develop alternative designs representing low, medium, and high cost scenarios for the replacement bridge. The low-cost scenario should include bridge replacement with improvements to the width and accessibility of the entryways and additional lighting. The medium cost scenario should include some architectural elements, either via attachments or in the design of the bridge itself, and enhanced lighting, and the high cost scenario shall be an architecturally-significant bridge, either via attachments or in the design of the bridge itself, with park-like entrances / approaches. The Village of Oak Park will select the preferred alternate bridge design following public engagement and final direction from the Village Board. All contact between prospective Consultants and the Village with respect to this RFQ will be formally held at scheduled meetings or in writing through the issuing representative. Only written questions will be accepted. Questions and/or comments which are submitted after the deadline set forth within this RFQ will not be answered.
