02-sis-96-76.8/78.0 *** Siskiyou County Near Horse Creek From 0.4 Mile West of Klamath River Bridge to 2.1 Miles West of Kohl Creek Pre Bid Conference(N/A) ESTIMATED AMOUNT $32,000,000 (This price is estimated - not guaranteed) WORKING DAYS: 360 PRIME CONTRACTOR LICENSE TYPE: The Contractor must have either a Class A license or any combination of the following Class C licenses which constitutes a majority of the work: C-8, C-12. Inquiries regarding specific project information, access the California Department of Transportation Bidder Inquiries website. This project is located close to the existing Horse Creek Bridge in Siskiyou County, California. The bridge is on Highway-96, about 17.0 miles east of the Seiad Valley, carrying traffic over the Klamath River. See Figure- 1 for a site map of the project location. The original existing Horse Creek Bridge (Br. No. 02-0117) was constructed in 1953. The single main span riveted and bolted steel through warren truss and three steel girder (5) approach spans with reinforced concrete (RC) deck and RC 2-column bents with infill walls founded on spread footings and RC seat abutments with monolithic wingwalls founded on steel piles. Bent 2 footing retrofitted with CIDH piles in 1988. The existing structure is 419 feet long, 29.4 feet wide at a skew of 37 degrees. See Figure- 2 shows the existing bridge. The project consists of replacing the existing four-span, 419 feet long bridge with a proposed three span CIP post-tensioned concrete box girder bridge, 542.4 feet long, 44.0 feet wide. The substructures are seat abutments with spread footing and 3.0 diameter CIDH piling, and two 7-ft diameter type I shafts at each pier. Figure- 3 shows the proposed General Plan Sheet. The FHR is based on removing the existing bridge including the existing RC diaphragm abutments.
