Center Street Bridge - State Project No. 79-212 Center Street Bridge No. 04185. The City of Meriden, DPW seeks the services of a contractor to furnish labor and materials to replace the Center Street Bridge in Meriden, CT Liquidated Damages. OWNER and CONTRACTOR recognize that time is of the essence of this Agreement and that OWNER will suffer financial loss if the Work is not completed within the times specified in paragraph 3.1 above, plus any extensions thereof allowed in accordance with Article 12 of the General Conditions. They also recognize the delays, expense and difficulties involved in proving the actual loss suffered by OWNER if the Work is not completed on time. Accordingly, instead of requiring any such proof, OWNER and CONTRACTOR agree that as liquidated damages for delay (but not as a penalty) CONTRACTOR shall pay OWNER Fifteen Hundred Dollars ($1500.00) for each day that expires after the time specified in paragraph 3.1 for Substantial Completion until the Work is substantially complete. Unlisted classifications needed for work not included within the scope of the classifications listed may be added after award only as provided in the labor standards contract clause (29 CFR 5.5 (a) (1) (ii)). This contract is subject to 25% DBE goal and contract compliance requirements. Each bid shall be accompanied by a Certified Check or Bid Bond in the amount of Ten (10%) percent of the amount bid. Labor and Material Payment Bond and a Performance bond for One Hundred Percent (100%) of the contract price, with a corporate surety approved by the City of Meriden, will be required of the lowest responsible bidder. The attention of bidders is call to the requirement for minimum wage rates to be paid under this contract. Bids are to be submitted on the attached proposal forms. Please submit two copies of the proposal forms and Bidder’s Qualification Statement. One shall be an original and one can be a copy. Please submit one complete copy of your bid on a flash drive. The right is reserved to reject any or all bids, in whole or in part, to award any item, group of items, or total bid, and to waive informality or technical defects, if it is deemed to be in the best interest of the City of Meriden. No bidder may withdraw its bid within One Hundred and Twenty (120) days of the date of the bid opening.
