The goal of the project is to create murals on the four sides of the exterior of the Pioneer Park restroom building and three sides of the City Pool office. The murals should be representative of the neighborhood, Wenatchee and the Wenatchee Valley. Some possible design themes could include neighborhood identifiers (i.e. Pioneer Park), aquatics, the apple industry and agriculture, landscaping for pollinators, outdoor recreation, Wenatchee or others. The building functions must also be able to be easily identifiable by park visitors. For example, people should be able to find the restroom entrances. The murals must be suitable for public viewing by all ages. The design should take into consideration ease of maintenance and resistance to vandalism. The buildings are unfinished brick with metal or glass doors. They have been targets for graffiti. A primer coat and anti-graffiti coating is required for the murals. The City of Wenatchee is seeking an artist or team of artists, to create murals on the exterior of the Pioneer Park restroom and the City Pool office in Wenatchee. Pioneer Park is located at 220 Fuller Street. The project budget is $10,000 and is being provided from an allocation from the City art fund. The final budget must be all-inclusive; covering all costs associated with the project including design and installation. This amount must also include applicable taxes. Taxes, insurance and necessary licenses are the responsibility of the artist(s) but travel costs may be factored into the overall cost of the project.
