The Government of Alberta (the "Province") requires construction services for: .1 Replacement of existing twin crossings superstructures at the junction of Hwy 16:12 and Hwy 43:22, at Carvel Corner, AB. The Project includes, but is not limited to, the following scope of work: .1 Rehabilitation of the twin crossings on Hwy 16 over Hwy 43 (superstructures and abutments, and modification of the existing piers); .2 Vertical profile modification of Hwy 16 at the crossings; .3 Median crossovers to detour both directions of Hwy 16 traffic onto one crossing during construction of the adjacent crossing; .4 Demolition of the existing 3-span concrete deck/steel girder superstructures and all components, abutments, headslope protection, and the existing culvert running along the west headslope under the headslope protection; .5 Modification of the existing piers; .6 Construction of two (2) new 3-span continuous steel girder superstructures with cast-in-place reinforced concrete decks, high performance waterproofing system, and new bridge and approach transition Asphalt Concrete Pavement (ACP); .7 Minor modifications of Hwy 43 vertical profile (milling & ACP); .8 Construction of new drainage culverts along both the east and west headslopes and reconstruction of the headslope protection; .9 Other Hwy 16 and Hwy 43 drainage and ditch modifications, replacement of existing culverts with new culverts; .10 New approach slabs and sleeper slabs; .11 New TL-4 Double Tube bridge rails and Thrie-Beam approach transition guardrails; .12 New under-bridge lighting; and .13 Dedicated project management and leadership resources for this complex project, including health, safety and environmental management of the site, and coordination with all stakeholders and third parties including the Province, third-party utilities, approving agencies, and the traveling public at large. The project delivery method will be Design-Bid-Build. Additional project information can be found in the Appendices. Complete design drawings and technical specifications, which will be included in the Tender, are being developed by the design consultant retained by Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors. The Contractor will construct the Project in accordance with the technical requirements of the Tender and must comply with all applicable national, and provincial laws, codes, standards, and regulations.
