The St. Cloud Civic Center opened in 1988 as a 110,000 square foot convention facility. In January 2012 the second phase of a major expansion was completed, bringing the facility to 195,000 square feet. The facility was renamed the river Edge Convention Center. After several years effort the City secured state bonding support for completion of the project an 11.56 million parking ramp adjacent to the facility. The ramp was completed in December 2016. The original building is now 30 years old and requires replacement of some major mechanical elements. In 2019, the City engaged the Apex group to assess and inventory mechanical and structural needs of our community facilities. Major expenditures that are necessary, but not critical, are Electrical upgrade, including completion of LED lighting conversion 600,000 Accessibility upgrades 350,000 Replacement of original exterior and interior doors and security upgrades 145,000 The project is include in the city's 2024-2029 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
