Kings, New York Cos., Highway - Operation - Operation Of HOV Lane On Gowanus Expwy And Prospect Expwy in Brooklyn, Prebid Meeting This project will allow NYSDOT to continue the operation of a High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Lane on a section of the Gowanus Expressway from 92nd St. to Hugh Carey Tunnel and Prospect Expressway from 5th Ave. to merge with Gowanus Expressway in Brooklyn, NYC to accommodate traffic and improve service to meet changes in demand during peak AM and PM hours. The NYSDOT operation of the Gowanus HOV Lane will continue to be coordinated with the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority (TBTA) agency which operates the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel and the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge. Project Status The current status of the project is In Development. The Bid Opening is expected to be in Winter 2023/2024. Construction is expected to begin in Spring 2024. Construction is expected to be completed in Spring 2027.
