Renovation of a medical facility in Los Angeles, California. Design plans call for the renovation of a 1,802-square-foot medical facility.
As of November 14, a feasibility study is underway. An architect has been selected but design has not started. A firm timeline for bidding and construction has not been confirmed. Closed solicitation has been included below for reference. .................. UCLA requests a written response to this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to select an Executive Architect for the proposed Center for Health Sciences (CHS) 43-251 Lab Renovation (Project #907537.01). The proposed project is on the fourth floor of the Department of the School of Medicine West building within the Center for Health Sciences complex on the UCLA campus at 10833 Le Conte Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90095. The proposed lab (inclusive of the following existing rooms: 43-273, 43-265, 43-265A, 43-247, 43-239, 43-233A, and 43-233) will be remodeled into a new lab to accommodate a principal investigators research needs. Renovations will include both building and program improvements. Building upgrades may consist of reconfiguring research spaces, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, life safety work, and potentially Title 24 accessibility / ADA-triggered scopes of work. Programmatic enhancements will be developed to support laboratory workflow and circulation efficiency. UCLAs internal staff and the researcher have completed a preliminary conceptual planning phase. The schedule duration allocated to the Executive Architect for the design phase is approximately six months from the issuance of the Notice to Proceed. The construction cost for the project has not been determined. However, it is anticipated to be between $1.5 to $2 million, depending on the agreed-upon scope of work. The construction is targeted to start in the Fall Quarter of 2024. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. The final selection and appointment of the Executive Architect is contingent upon project approval by the University of California Board of Regents or their delegated authority. This RFQ is for complete design services; however, the University reserves the right to defer negotiations for services other than pre-design studies until the completion of the pre-design phase. A screening committee will determine a shortlist of firms; further steps in the selection process will be at the selection committee's discretion. Every effort will ensure that all persons have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within limits imposed by law or University policy. Each Candidate Firm may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy.
