Renovation of an educational facility in Boone, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

Scope of Work: The Party of the First Part shall furnish and deliver all of the materials, and perform all of the work in the manner and form as provided by the following enumerated plans, specifications and documents, which are attached hereto and made a part thereof as if fully contained herein: advertisement; Instructions to Bidders; General Conditions; Supplementary General Conditions; specifications; accepted proposal; contract; performance bond; payment bond; power of attorney; workmen's compensation; public liability; property damage and builder's risk insurance certificates; approval of attorney general; certificate by the Office of State Budget and Management, and drawings, titled: SCO ID #: 23-27003-01A SKA PROJECT NO. 230361 Appalachian State University is seeking a contractor for the Central Dining Hall roof replacement project. Approximately 45,400 square feet of membrane roofing will be removed and replaced. Bids will be received for single prime contract type. All proposals shall be lump sum. General contractors are notified that Chapter 87, Article 1, General Statutes of North Carolina, will be observed in receiving and awarding general contracts. General contractors submitting bids on this project must have license classification for General or S(Roofing). Each proposal shall be accompanied by a cash deposit or a certified check drawn on some bank or trust company, insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, of an amount equal to not less than five percent (5%) of the proposal, or in lieu thereof a bidder may offer a bid bond of five percent (5%) of the bid executed by a surety company licensed under the laws of North Carolina to execute the contract in accordance with the bid bond. Said deposit shall be retained by the owner as liquidated damages in event of failure of the successful bidder to execute the contract within ten days after the award or to give satisfactory surety as required by law. A performance bond and a payment bond will be required for one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price. Payment will be made based on ninety-five percent (95%) of monthly estimates and final payment made upon completion and acceptance of work. No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for the receipt of bids for a period of 30 days. The owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities. PLEASE NOTE: Per Addendum 1: ASU has decided to reduce the scope of the base bid by removing two roof areas and bidding them as an alternate. Also, two other alternates are being deleted so the acceptance of any or all alternates will not affect the 94 days allotted for construction. Contractors may choose to include interior protection in lieu of some of the requirements in the construction documents (see the addendum). Two companies that are known to work in this area are TuffWrap and ShieldWorks. The deadline for questions from bidders is 5:00pm on February 14, 2024. If the ARCHITECT receives any additional questions, another addendum will be issued on February 15.
