Description NC State University (hereafter referred to as University), College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS), Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering (BAE) seeks proposals from experienced, qualified contractors to retrofit an existing wetpond into a constructed storm water wetland at 341 South College Road in Wilmington, NC 28403 (3413'57.7"N 7752'20.5"W). The purpose of the proposed project is to treat stormwater runoff from adjacent rooftops, driveways, parking lots, and roads as part of a watershed improvement project and for use in research trials for the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NC DEQ). University Commons is a 22 acre commercial parcel in Wilmington, NC within the Bradley Creek Watershed. The site's stormwater control measure has been identified for an upgrade. The awarded\ Contractor will retrofit and expand an existing stormwater wetpond (approx. 21,500 square feet) into a constructed stormwater wetland (approx. 31,800 square feet), including removing vegetation and trees marked for removal. The contractor shall determine if all trees marked for removal are necessary for equipment access before removal. An existing chain link fence shall be removed and taken off site for proper disposal. Wetland earthwork will result in net zero (0) cubic yard (CY) of cut/fill. Wetland shall be graded to elevations as specified on the below plans. Wetland will include vegetation for various depths which are specified in the plans. The wetland also includes two (2) riprap inlet aprons and an emergency spillway. Completion date shall be adjusted for weather delays only with approval by the Universits Project Manager. Offerors are cautioned that this is a request for offers, not a request to contract and the University/State reserves the unqualified right to reject any and all offers when such rejection is deemed to be in the best interest of the University or State. Each proposal shall state that it is a firm offer which may be accepted within a period of forty-five (45) days from the proposal opening. Although the contract is expected to be awarded prior to that time, the 45-day period is requested to allow for unforeseen delays.
