The County is seeking sealed bids from qualified and experienced firms for collecting, hauling, and recycling metal from the Knightsville and Oakbrook Convenience Sites. At this time, metal from other convenience sites will be collected and hauled by internal County sources to the designated recycling facility; however, more convenience sites may be added or deleted at the discretion of the County. Contractor shall provide and directly transport containers to and from Knightsville and Oakbrook Convenience Centers to a certified facility. Knightsville Convenience Site is located at 1985 Central Avenue, Summerville, SC, and Oakbrook Convenience Site is located at 235 Old Fort Drive, Summerville, SC. The Contractor shall provide all personnel, hauling equipment, and other resources for the loading and transporting of the recyclable materials from these two County sites. The Contractor shall provide two (2) 40-yard open top containers to be serviced twice per week, or as needed, at each location. The service schedule is not a guarantee but rather the County's best estimate. The total number of containers to be provided at this time is four (4). The containers shall be capable of withstanding the anticipated use of safely containing and transporting mixed scrap metals. The Contractor shall provide all supervision, materials, equipment, labor, and all other items necessary and assume all responsibility for the collection and transport of the metal from these two convenience sites. No guarantee is made as to the frequency of pick-ups, nor the quantity, weight, type, quality, contaminants and/or content of metals placed in the awarded Bidder's containers at any time. Metal becomes the property of the Contractor once it has left the convenience site. The County assumes no responsibility for equipment or personnel utilized in the Contractor's operations at any time, on or off County property, and the County makes no representations regarding the safety or suitability of the metal products as presented to the Contractor. The Contractor shall ensure recyclables hauled are contained, tied, or enclosed to prevent leaking, spilling, or blowing, following state and local laws, ordinances, and regulations. Contractor should ensure that recyclables/metal are covered/tarped during hauling. Metal is also accepted at the St. George Convenience Site, located at 5365 Memorial Blvd, Saint George, SC, the Sandy Pines Convenience Site, located at 374 Sandy Pines Road, Dorchester, SC, and Givhans Convenience Site, located at 1548 Givhans Road, Ridgeville, SC; however, these containers are owned by the County and metal will be transported by County to the designated recycling facility(s), unless other arrangements are made for collection and hauling. For these convenience sites, County employees shall deliver, and the Contractor shall purchase the scrap metal at the pricing submitted within. For these convenience sites, unless other arrangements have been made, the County shall provide all supervision, materials, equipment, labor, and all other items necessary and assume all responsibility for the collection and transport of the metal from these sites to the designated recycling facility(s). No guarantee is made as to the frequency of deliveries, nor the quantity, weight, type, quality, contaminants and/or content of metals. Metal becomes the property of the Contractor once it is delivered to their facility The initial term of any contract derived from this solicitation shall be ONE (1) year from the date of contract execution by the County. At the County's discretion, the contract may be renewed for FOUR (4) additional ONE (1) year terms. Question Deadline 01/17/2024 at 2:00 PM ET
