Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Maquoketa, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.
The City of Maquoketa is requesting sealed competitive quotes for mill and fill on multiple city streets. BITUMINOUS MILL AND FILL a. Mill 2.5" deep along curb line to 0" at 8' out using a 8' milling machine. Vacuum milled area. The City will have 4 dump trucks to haul away the millings. b. Tac and pave scratch coat 1" thick. c. Pave 2nd lift 2" thick. d. Both rubber tired and smooth drum rollers must be used for proper compaction. e. The street will have 1 lane open during the milling operations. f. Public Works Personnel will assist with traffic control. g. Cost of headers will be incidental. NOTE: Bituminous wedging will be required on German St. along new curb and gutter this will be paid by "TON". RESET STRUCTURES a. Remove and salvage castings to City Public Works yard. b. Pave street. c. Cut pavement and set new castings to grade. d. Pour concrete collar around casting. e. Provide traffic control (must meet MUTCD specifications) CONCRETE CURB & GUTTER PATCHING a. Full depth saw cuts b. Concrete removal and disposal in locations provided by contractor c. Subgrade excavation and disposal and grading d. F&I 4" compacted aggregate base e. F&I #5 epoxy coated rebar 18" long, 12" on center at tie-in to existing. f. Pour new curb & gutter to match profile of existing curb & gutter with 4000 psi concrete g. Seal with curing compound h. Cleanup all debris i. Provide traffic control (must meet MUTCD specifications) NOTE: On the German St. curb and gutter replace 129' sunken curb and gutter on the north side of the street. Transfer the south side curb and gutter grades to the north side when forming up the curb and gutter. CONCRETE ROADWAY GUTTER a. subgrade excavation and disposal and grading. b. F & I 4" compacted aggregate base. c. F & I #5 epoxy coated Rebar 18" long, 12" O.C. at tie-in to C&G. d. Pour new gutter 7" thick with 4,000 psi concrete. e. The gutter side that is running parallel with the water flow must line up with the curb lip on both sides of the intersection. f. Seal with curing compound g. Cleanup all debris h. Provide traffic control (must meet MUTCD specifications) PERSHING ROAD SHOULDERING a. Using a milling machine, mill out a 6' wide x 12' dp. Trench next to the existing concrete pavement. b. Install 6" of compacted aggregate base in multiple lifts. c. Grade, water and compact aggregate base so a 6" reveal is left for 6" of bituminous paving. d. Tac existing concrete edge. e. Pave 3' wide x 6" thk. Bituminous in 3 lifts. f. Shoulder last 3' wide x 6" thk. With aggregate base. g. City will regrade next to the aggregate shoulder. h. Street will be closed during construction. Final quantities will be paid by actual measurements done together and agreed upon by both Contractor and Public Works Director. All work necessary to complete the projects shall be included in the unit cost as quoted. Please keep in mind that sales tax does not pertain to municipal work and should not be included in your bid. The City reserves the right to reject all bids, waive informalities and make a decision that best suits the interests of the citizens of Maquoketa. A mandatory pre-bid meeting will NOT be held. Each quote shall be accompanied by a Bid Bond, Certified Check, Certified Share Draft or Cashier's Check in a separate envelope in an amount equal to five (5%) of the total amount of the bid as security that if awarded a contract, the bidder will enter into a contract at the prices quoted and furnish the required performance and payment bonds and certificates of insurance. The Certified Check, Certified Share Draft or Cashier's Check shall be drawn on a bank or Credit Union in Iowa or a bank or Credit Union chartered under the laws of the United States of America and payable to the City of Maquoketa, Iowa. The Certified Check, Certified Share Draft or Cashier's Check may be cashed, or the Bid Bond forfeited, and the proceeds retained as liquidated damages if the bidder fails to execute a contract or file acceptable bonds or provide an acceptable certificate of insurance within 30 days after the acceptance of his proposal by resolution of the City. No bidder may withdraw a proposal within 45 days after the date set for opening bids. Contractor and all employees shall abide by all OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations, and the City reserves the right to stop all work if property safety practices are not in use. Please be advised that your quote must include the cost of Performance and Payment bonds that will need to be in effect while the work is being completed. However, you do not have to actually obtain such bonds as a condition for submitting a quote. Upon the award of a contract, but before the "notice to proceed" is issued, the successful bidder must provide these bonds in a form that is acceptable to the City. The successful bidder is advised not to incur any project costs until bonds have been approved. All work is to be completed no later than Friday, August 2, 2024 There will be one award for all three sections. The City reserves the right to reject all bids, either all or in part, waive informalities and select the quote that best suits its application.
