Q&A (RFI) Due Date and Time 2/21/2024 2:00 PM PROJECT DESCRIPTION/SCOPE OF WORK: Hosmer Hall will require a complete re-wiring of the building of infrastructure cabling and WAO's this project also includes wireless access points. There will include the elimination of Telecomm Closets on the 2nd floor Room 213 and the 3rd Floor TR313. A. The Work of Project is defined by the Contract Documents and consists of the following: 1. The University is engaged in a multi-year project to upgrade its network equipment and wired access infrastructure to the University's current standards (WALR). As part of this effort, 2 of the 5 buildings at the Hartford School of Law will be upgraded. The buildings vary in size and level of changes required. 2. The contractor shall provide labor to install network switches and Power Distribution Units (PDU) in each Telecom Room (TR). Network switches and PDUs will be furnished by UConn ITS. The contractor shall provide labor to patch each station port to a network switch port in each TR. The contractor will provide documentation showing station port to network switch port in an Excel format, which will become part of the As-built documentation. Coordinate Patching Schedule with UConn ITS based on active services. Contractor shall provide patch cords. 3. The contractor shall replace all Wireless Access Points (WAPs) with new WAPs furnished by UConn ITS, unless otherwise noted. 4. The Contractor shall include a line-item price to survey existing conditions prior to execution of the project. This survey will evaluate existing ceiling conditions, pathways, and spaces to determine what can be reused and is accessible. B. The following is a summary of the scope of work for the 2 buildings. Please see the attached bid drawings for each building for further details and requirements 1. Hartford Law School Campus - Hosmer Hall a. (4) floors: Basement, First, Second and Third floors. b. (1) Existing TR 113 on First floor c. All new cables shall run to new TR 113. d. Install copper backbone from 011 to new TR 113. e. Extend fiber backbone from existing TR 113 fiber enclosure to new TR 113 fiber enclosure. f. Electrical upgrades shall be furnished and installed by others. g. Re-use existing pathways where possible. Install new pathways where needed and indicated on bid drawings. h. Install new CAT 6 and CAT 6 A cable to designated locations. i. Relabel all telecom and data cables, face plates and patch panels to meet UConn's labeling standard. j. Install owner provided Blockout jacks in all unused station ports.
