It is the intention of the CSUN Housing Facilities Operations Department to remove and replace Eighty-Eight (88) tankless Domestic Water Heaters (DWHs) serving the Student Housing Buildings 1 and 2 and Buildings 4 through 15, with Eighty-Eight (88) new Noritz Tankless Water Heaters (NCC199CDV). This proposal accounts for phasing through the buildings to minimize shutdown windows within single-day increments not to exceed 8 hours each. CSUN RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Engineering services to confirm equipment selection and piping configurations, including equipment roof overview drawings. VENDOR RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Safe off / disconnect existing water piping, condensate drain, gas connection, and control connections. 2. Remove and replace existing gas and water piping isolation valves for eighty-eight (88) DWHs, including new piping connections to higher elevation DWHs. 3. Remove and replace condensate piping connections for eighty-eight (88) DWHs, including fourteen (14) new condensate neutralizers. Piping between DWHs and neutralizers to be PVC with a protective covering. Piping between new neutralizers and existing roof penetrations to remain copper. Existing roof penetrations and receptacle connections below the roofline remain. 4. Remove and replace line voltage electrical connections for eighty-eight (88) DWHs, including new combined electrical disconnects at each roof. Existing electrical circuits feeding into electrical disconnects remain. 5. Remove and replace fourteen (14) local control modules and associated low voltage wiring serving eighty-eight (88) DWHs. 6. Perform demolition and removal of eighty-eight (88) existing DWHs, phasing between an individual Building per shutdown. 7. Provide crane rigging services for removal and replacement of roof equipment at fourteen (14) buildings. Cranes to set up within customer areas to avoid street closure permits. Landscaping restoration, if required, is not included. 8. Include new unistrut mounts onto existing steel frames for each installation of the new eighty-eight (88) Noritz Tankless Water Heaters (NCC199CDV) for the purposes of increasing the DWH elevation to improve serviceability. Existing sheet metal equipment pad covers to remain. New DWHs to utilize existing gas pressure and domestic water flow rates. Quotes have ranged from 600K to 1.7Million. *The value for this project is based on a financial range.
