Introduction UTA's transit network has continued to grow and expand since the first service was delivered in 1970. As part of this growth, UTA has added hundreds of miles of new service and several different modes of transit to the portfolio of products and services they provide, including a series of rail and bus-rapid-transit lines throughout the service area. A key component to the success of this every growing transportation network is a comprehensive, understandable, and easily recognizable wayfinding system. An effective wayfinding system provides a sense of familiarity, comfort, and safety. Finding one's way to the UTA transit system, navigating through the system, and knowing where to go once you have arrived at your destination should require minimal mental effort. Background At times throughout the history of the agency, the system has grown and evolved at a rapid pace. In these times of accelerated growth, decisions regarding certain elements of UTA's wayfinding system needed to be expedited in lieu of a comprehensive evaluation of a complete system-wide wayfinding solution. This decision-making process left many parts of the UTA service area looking different from other parts. There was a need for a more cohesive strategy, plan, and consistent implementation of UTA's design guidelines that will produce a unified wayfinding and signage solution for UTA. In 2019 UTA contracted with a professional wayfinding planning and design firm (Applied Wayfinding) to develop a comprehensive set of design guidelines that would make for a consistent, easily recognized set of wayfinding elements. B. Scope of Work o Contractor shall perform the Work as depicted in Exhibit A o Each of the sign locations on the platforms are show in Exhibit A o Contractor shall provide a fabrication and installation schedule. o "Work" also includes all services required by the Contract Documents, including procuring, and furnishing all material, equipment, services and labor reasonably inferable from the Contract Documents as necessary to complete fabrication and installation of the Projects o Contractor shall produce shop drawings of each sign type, including hardware and mounting procedure to be provided to UTA PM for review and approval before fabrication Project Description This project will include the design, fabrication and installation of wayfinding monument and beacon signs to make navigating Clearfield station easier.
