Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Harwinton, Connecticut. Completed plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; for paving for a bridge / tunnel; and for the construction of a bridge / tunnel.

Contractor Shall Be Pre-qualified by the Connecticut Department of Transportation for Group No. 8 - Minor Bridges Construction or Group No. 8a - box Culverts Form 818 Standard Specifications and Supplemental Specifications may be obtained via the Connecticut Department of Transportation All Proposals must be on the form furnished by the Town of Harwinton and must be requested for the above-named project. Each Bidder must deposit with his/her bid a certified check, or a bid bond, for not less than five percent (5%) of the bid as provided in the Information for Bidders. A certified check will not be accepted in lieu of a Bid Bond. NO PROPOSAL WILL BE ACCEPTED UNLESS ACCOMPANIED BY THE REQUIRED BID BOND. The Town reserves the right to waive any informality or to reject any or all bids should it be in the Town's best interest to do so. The Contractor chosen for the project shall be required to furnish 100 % Performance and Labor and Material bonds and proof of required insurance coverage. A Maintenance Bond, in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the contract sum shall be required after completion of the work and prior to final payment. THIS CONTRACT IS SUBJECT TO STATE SET-ASIDE AND CONTRACT COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS The attention of the Bidders is called to the requirement for minimum wage rates to be paid under this Contract. The right is reserved to reject any or all bids in whole or in part, to award any item, group of items, or total bid and to waive any informality or technical defects, if it is deemed to be in the best interest of the Town of Harwinton. No Bidder may withdraw their bid within ninety (90) days after the actual date of the opening thereof. CONTRACTORS that find discrepancies and/or errors in or between plans, specifications, quantities and other matters, must immediately notify Michael R. Criss at mcriss@harwinton.us and Gary Giroux at gary@cardinalengineering.com in writing not less than ten(10) days before the scheduled bid opening The Contractor shall commence work under this Contract within ten (10) days of the date of Notice to Proceed issued by the Town of Harwinton and shall fully complete all work stipulated in these Contract Documents within 180 consecutive calendar days thereafter.
