The City requires services to remove or trim trees and grind tree stumps in the public right of way (adjacent to roadways), parks, and near stormwater facilities. This Request for Bids (RFB) is for a tree removal service provider (Contractor) that can respond to perform tree removal services in all types of terrain, in varied weather conditions, and potentially during all hours. The Contractor will also be required to provide traffic control (signs and flaggers) for work near roadways and may need to perform work on short notice. In 2023, the City's Contract total for tree removal was $150,000. Tree removal is required within five (5) business days of the notice to proceed. Tree removal required within two (2) business days or less of notice to proceed is considered an emergency tree removal and will be paid the emergency premium. This is a one (1) year Contract with an option to extend the Contract for up to two (2) additional years. Bond Doc: The undersigned bidder further agrees that the bid bond accompanying this bid shall be left in escrow with the Owner, and that the liquidated damages which the Owner will sustain by the failure of the undersigned bidder to execute and deliver the Contract and performance bond will be equal to five percent (5%) of the total bid. If the undersigned bidder defaults in executing that Contract and in furnishing the Contract performance bond within ten (10) days of the date on the Notice of Award, then the bid guaranty shall become the property of the Owner. Labour: Prevailing wages are required for this Contract. Labour includes, but is not limited to, the tree faller, ground crew members and chipper operator. For Traffic Control, labour includes certified flaggers, traffic control measure implementation, and costs for preparation of a traffic control plan.
