The Boston Redevelopment Authority ("BRA") d/b/a Boston Planning & Development Agency ("BPDA"), by its Chief Procurement Officer ("CPO"), is pleased to issue this Invitation For Bids ("IFB") to perform construction services for the "Building Envelope Repairs at China Trade Center". The purpose of this project is to repair the 2nd-6th floor windows and masonry; addressing the most critical areas of wear that have the potential to get worse if not addressed now. Specifically areas of stone damage that are allowing water to enter the building envelope and the exterior wooden elements of the windows. Deadline for Sub-Bid Questions February 6, 2024 Scope of services includes but is not limited to window restoration, EPDM roof repair, the handling of a bird control system, as well as filed sub bids for masonry, caulking, and painting. Window restoration includes the repair of brickmolds and sills of historic wood windows. Painting work includes the stripping and repainting of wood windows. Masonry work includes cleaning and rebuilding historic brick, spalling and crack repair, and hinge repairs. All work is at the exterior of the building. Summary of scope: o Repair existing wood windows at levels 2-6, including stripping paint, wood repairs, repainting, and misc. glass repairs. o Strip and repaint original wood frames at aluminum windows (at brick facades) where aluminum windows were added within the wood frames. Misc. wood repairs. o Strip and repaint steel security grilles. o Remove portions of existing bird-proofing for window and stone work, reinstalling after work is done. o Repair stone where damaged at the sandstone facade and brick facade. o Remove metal hinges that are allowing water infiltration and damage to brick.
