Renovation of a museum in Owen Sound, Ontario. Completed plans call for the renovation of a museum.
Working with an exhibit design firm from 2018 to 2020, Grey Roots developed a concept design to update its long-term Grey County Gallery, as this exhibit was originally installed in 2004. To date, two exhibit sections have been refreshed titled: Voices and Abundance. Design specifications were completed in September 2023 for the three remaining sections to be replaced titled: Connection, Permanence and Hope. 2024 will see fabrication and installation of these 3 sections. The goal for the updated long-term exhibit is to reflect a relevant, representative, and inclusive history of Grey County, from Indigenous Peoples to today and reflect on where Grey County is headed in the future. The new gallery will share the authentic stories of Grey County through genuine objects, archival images, and first-person stories while offering engaging discovery-based learning for individuals and groups. The exhibit design maximizes the number of artefacts on short and long-term display while maintaining design compatibility with the Voices installation in the centre of the gallery. Grey Roots Museum & Archives is in the process of renovating and renewing the permanent gallery space, known as the Grey County Gallery. Grey County is looking to contract a woodworking/cabinet making company to fabricate and install the exhibit infrastructure detailed in the completed final designs for the sections of the gallery titled Connection, Permanence and Hope.
