Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Calgary, Alberta. Completed plans call for the construction of a 19,440-square-foot, two-story above grade playground / park / athletic field; and for site work for a playground / park / athletic field.

This contract would be for the construction of a new National Fire Cache facility in Banff National Park in the location of the Operation and Maintenance Compound of the Banff Field Unit. The NFC facility will be a steel column and beam framed structure on conventional concrete foundations, The facility will consist of warehouse and workshop space alongside office space for the fire cache, consistent with current site uses. Select Banff Field Unit and Highway Operations Unit functions will also be relocated into the building. The existing paint shop/service station building which includes the existing wash bay, will be demolished (660m²). The project includes modifications and updates to site infrastructure such as electrical utilities, parking facilities, site circulation, green space, landscaping, and stormwater. Parks Canada has engaged a multi-disciplinary engineering consultant to provide project life-cycle design and construction supervision services. Construction activities will include tree clearing, site preparation, civil works, shallow and deep utilities, new building structures, fencing, specialty equipment installation, landscaping and revegetation. Specifically, the project includes construction of the following components: 1. National Fire Cache Building (approximately 1800 m2), which includes the following spaces for office and meeting spaces, workshop and warehouse rooms, storage spaces, commercial washbay, and mechanical/electrical rooms: 530 sq m for National Fire Cache (warehouse space, office space, maintenance bay, workshop area, pump test room, fuel storage), 190 sq m for Banff Local Fire Cache (offices, incident room, workshop, vehicle 90 sq m for the Human Wildlife Conflict Management (offices, workshop, and secure room) 345 sq m for BFU (trail crew storage, vehicle storage, workshop area) 235 sq m for common space (corridors, breakroom, washrooms, shower, laundry, locker room, and M&E rooms) 200 sq m wash bay for HOU (to replace the existing one that will be demolished) Mezzanine space for NFC, Banff Fire Cache and Banff Field Unit will be incorporated into the facility to take advantage of the tall building. 2. Site preparation which includes: Overall site grading Relocation of electrical infrastructure and conduits Relocation of existing natural gas line Installation of new electrical panels/pad mounted transformers Relocation of telecommunication lines 3. Site parking infrastructure installation of EV chargers parking rails 4. Stormwater management facilities and features bioretention pond (~ 600 sq m) for roof drainage infiltration pits and swales for drainage from building overhangs and canopies additional bioswales within parking areas 5. Site development around facility which includes: paving (roughly 5600 sq m) of driving areas within parking lot and road adjacent to the building concrete pads and concrete aprons surrounding the facility site landscaping and site furnishings (e.g., bicycle racks, benches, etc.) relocation of site and existing wildlife fencing 6. Ancillary buildings and mechanical/electrical units and related infrastructure which consists of: fuel storage building to store fuels and flammable materials (38 sq m), air source heat pump emergency generator (600V 250 kW 3 phase onsite diesel with 24hour reserve sub-base fuel tank) PV array (capable of producing 225,000 kWhr/annum) 7. Abatement and demolition of existing asset (approx. 650 sq m paint shop built in 1958) currently used as a wash bay, laydown area for the trail crew, some office space, storage, and storage for the pumper truck.
