The work shall typically consist of cutting a minimum 5-foot strip of vegetation growth along the specified street right-of-way but could be greater. Scope of work shall also include street islands, guardrail areas, bridge underpass areas, and a few designated street easements which may require trimming and weed eating of slopes and curb lines. All mowing locations listed in Exhibit A can be found within the Topeka City limits. The Transportation Operations Divisions designee will direct the cutting of these specific locations. The site locations in Exhibit A detail each location and the estimated acreage at that site. Sites shall be mowed every 14 to 30 days depending on the growth rate with an estimated 6 to 12 mowing's per growing season. Contractors who have or have access to sideboom mowers will have reduced labor hours when executing the mowing for this project due to the physical challenges and slopes of the right-of-ways. Contractors will be required to wear Type II safety vests while mowing the right-of way properties. Contractors are also require to have flashing safety lights on vehicles. Weed growth on right-of-ways shall be cut to a minimum height as reasonably practical. In no instance shall the cut height be more than four (4) inches from the ground. If obstructions such as building materials, trash, rubbish, refuse, debris, fallen tree limbs, cut brush, junk, or other items are encountered, and if the obstacle is such as not to be moveable or displaceable by a single workman, then the contractor shall immediately notify the Mowing Supervisor of such conditions at that location. The City of Topeka reserves the right to reject the bid of a bidder if the City believes that it would not be in the best interest to make an award to that bidder Question Deadline 02/01/2024 at 12:00 PM CT The awarded contractor is expected to enter into a contract with the City of Topeka for a one (1) year period with the option to renew for an additional four (4) one (1) year terms by the written agreement of both parties. In the event the contractor is not interested in renewing for any additional term, contractor must notify the City ninety (90) days prior to contract expiration.
