El Paso County has received federal funding to improve 24 different intersections focusing on pedestrian safety. These locations are known to have pedestrian crossing signals with old, outdated technology or span wires, that are not ADA compliant, or need safety improvements such as signage, stripping, audible signals, additional sidewalk/crosswalks, etc. These locations include school crossings, high speed and high-volume roadways, connections to schools, trails, jobs, parks, transit, emergency services, and other pedestrian generators.
