The work to be done under this contract includes: Provision of all labor and materials required for the installation of approximately 6,265 linear feet of 12" diameter water main, and installation of approximately 148 linear feet of 8" diameter water main and all related appurtenances by conventional excavation and backfill. The project also includes stormwater improvements of approximately 334 linear feet of 30" diameter storm sewer, 410 linear feet of 24" diameter storm sewer, 90 linear feet of 18" diameter storm sewer, and 10 linear feet of 15" diameter storm sewer. All questions and clarifications regarding this bid should be submitted only via email and directed to the City's purchasing department at purchasing@lawrenceks.org. The bid number shall be referenced in the email subject line. The questions deadline is February 16th, 2024 - 2:00 PM (Central Time Zone). All questions will receive an official written response from the City and will become addenda to this Bid. Each bid shall be accompanied by a bid bond no less than 5% of the amount of the bid made payable to the City of Lawrence, retained by the City Commission until a contract for the project shall have been awarded. Checks will be returned to the unsuccessful bidders when their bids are rejected. The City Commission reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to waive informalities. Days to Achieve Final Completion: The Work will be completed and ready for final payment in accordance with Paragraph GC-54 of the General Conditions within 270 days after the date when the Contract Time commences to run. Liquidated Damages: Contractor and Owner recognize that time is of the essence of this Agreement and that Owner will suffer financial loss if the Work is not completed within the times specified above, plus any extensions thereof allowed in accordance with Paragraph GC-45 of the General Conditions. The parties also recognize the delays, expense, and difficulties involved in proving in a legal proceeding the actual loss suffered by Owner if the Work is not completed on time. Accordingly, instead of requiring any such proof, Owner and Contractor agree that as liquidated damages for delay (but not as a penalty), Contractor shall pay Owner $ 500 for each day that expires after the time specified above for Final Completion until the Work is complete.
