Renovation of an educational facility in New York, New York. Design plans call for the renovation of a 300,000-square-foot, 18-story above grade educational facility.

The State University Construction Fund (SUCF) is seeking Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) from consultants to provide design and construction administration services for the Rehabilitate Building Facade/Replace Roof-Optometry project at the State University of New York, College of Optometry. The Optometry Building, constructed in 1912, is a 300,000 GSF, eighteen-story building. The Project will replace the roof, repair the facade, and remove a grade level entrance and infill with masonry. The BUF roof is over 20 years old and is currently leaking into the offices on the 18th floor. The roof (including the courtyard roofs) is approximately 11,200 SF. The existing parapets meet the 42" code requirement. There are several penthouses, extensive mechanical units and dunnage on the roof. There is a stair and door to access the roof. The building is flanked on two sides by other buildings with streets on the opposite sides. The entire roofing system is to be replaced including the built-up roofing material, drains, insulation, and all other components of the roof system to meet SUCF Directive 1B2 at online. The new roof system will include new EPDM, insulation, and all other components of the roofing system. The exterior wall is construction with pre-war steel frame structure with limestone and bonded masonry. The material on the facade includes brick masonry, limestone, terra cotta, granite, and bonded brick. The windows are aluminum casements and wood double hung windows. The facade repairs include replacing several banisters, repairing the parapet wall, repairing cracks, cleaning, sealing, etc. The existing glass door/partition is to be demolished in the 42nd street ground level and the wall restored to its original condition.
