Site work for a sidewalk / parking lot in Niagara on the Lake, Ontario. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot.
The Town currently owns 57 parking machines all located within the urban area known as Old Town. Current parking machines stopped accepting credit cards earlier this year due to aging infrastructure and new credit card payment protocols. Machines only have magnetic stripe readers, while newer payment protocols require chip readers and pin pads to authorize transactions. As a result, the Town was forced to discontinue the use of credit card payments at its existing parking machines. This situation has caused much angst amount citizens and visitors of our beautiful community. Council has approved the replacement of the Town's parking machines to bring the Town's machines up a newer standard. Through this approval the Town has decided to replace 30 machines while also continuing to invest in online parking technologies.
