Project Description This project is a gut remodel of two undergraduate chemistry teaching labs on the third floor of the Science and Engineering Labs West building. Both labs are largely original to the building's construction or have not been meaningfully updated in the last 20 years. Demolition generally includes the removal of the existing benchtops, perimeter counters and furniture, and flooring. Plumbing and electrical within removed assemblies will be demolished and made safe to prep for new work. Ventilation demolition is limited to a bid alternate in lab 3223. New work will include new laboratory casework located in similar locations to the existing removed locations and new casework and furniture items along the perimeter of the classrooms. Casework will be provided and installed by Owner's vendor but contractors are responsible for coordinating the installation schedule and providing plumbing and electrical within. New flooring, wall and ceiling finishes, lighting relamping to be provided throughout. Plumbing and electrical contractors to provide all new plumbing and electrical infrastructure throughout classrooms. Note that there is extensive plumbing work that will need to be provided from the ceiling in the rooms below this project. This project has a number of bid alternates; please review the scope of each thoroughly. This Project is located at: Science and Engineering Lab West (Building #608)900 W. Taylor St., Chicago, IL 60607 Each Single Prime Bidder shall identify the total sum of their base bid and each alternate if any, as well as the breakdown of this bid by each bid / alternate(s) if any, for Work the Single Prime Bidder will perform as well as the Work performed by Protected Subcontractors for all of the following trades: (1) plumbing, (2) heating, piping, refrigeration and automatic temperature control systems, including the testing and balancing of those systems; (3) ventilating and distribution systems for conditioned air, including the testing and balancing of those systems; (4) electric wiring; and (5) general contract work . The breakdown of the Single Prime and Protected Subcontractor base bids and each alternate(s) if any, should add up to the Single Prime total base bid and each alternate totals.
