a. The Chain Link Fence will have 4 runs totaling 777 L.F. long. b. The alignment of the fence will be basically in a straight line. c. For reference the fence will have 3 openings. a. There will be one opening of 25 L.F. b. There will be a second opening of 37 L.F. c. There will be a third opening of 4 L.F. d. The fence fabric with corresponding posts will be 6' high e. The fence fabric will be Galvanized 1.2 oz., 2" dia. mesh, 9 gage wire. f. The 8 terminal or corner posts will be 3" Dia. WT-40 with 1-5/8 Dia. WT-40 "X" bracing. g. The line posts will be 2-1/2" Dia. WT-40, 10' O.C. h. The top rail will be 1-5/8'" Dia. WT-40. i. The bottom tension wire will be 7 ga. j. All Terminal and Corner posts will be set in concrete. k. Existing fence will be removed by contractor. Public Works will take care of the disposal. Forms: These bid forms (attached) must be filled out, signed and used to submit your quotes. Award: There will be one award. Duration of Quote: Your quote(s) shall be for a complete and not-to-exceed amount. All quotes shall be good for 30 days after the bid opening. For any quotes to be considered, they must include all required information and prices which would include purchase, delivery and installation. Required bonds: Please be advised that your quote must include the cost of Performance and Payment bonds that will need to be in effect while the work is being completed. However, you do not have to actually obtain such bonds as a condition for submitting a quote. Upon the award of a contract, but before the "notice to proceed" is issued, the successful bidder must provide these bonds in a form that is acceptable to the City. The successful bidder is advised not to incur any project costs until bonds have been approved. Bid Security: Each quote shall be accompanied by a Bid Bond, Certified Check, Certified Share Draft or Cashier's Check in a separate envelope in an amount equal to five (5%) of the total amount of the bid as security that if awarded a contract, the bidder will enter into a contract at the prices quoted and furnish the required performance and payment bonds and certificates of insurance. The Certified Check, Certified Share Draft or Cashier's Check shall be drawn on a bank or Credit Union in Iowa or a bank or Credit Union chartered under the laws of the United States of America and payable to the City of Maquoketa, Iowa. The Certified Check, Certified Share Draft or Cashier's Check may be cashed, or the Bid Bond forfeited, and the proceeds retained as liquidated damages if the bidder fails to execute a contract or file acceptable bonds or provide an acceptable certificate of insurance within 30 days after the acceptance of his proposal by resolution of the City. No bidder may withdraw a proposal within 45 days after the date set for opening bids. General: The City of Maquoketa is requesting sealed competitive quotes for installing along Grove Street a 6-foot high chain link fence at the Grove Street Ball Park. Final quantities will be paid by actual measurements done together and agreed upon by both Contractor and Public Works Director. All work necessary to complete the projects shall be included in the unit cost as quoted. Please keep in mind that sales tax does not pertain to municipal work and should not be included in your bid. The City reserves the right to reject all bids, waive informalities and make a decision that best suits the interests of the citizens of Maquoketa. A mandatory pre-bid meeting will NOT be held.
