Renovation of a fitness / recreation center in Columbus, Ohio. Completed plans call for the renovation of a fitness / recreation center.
**As of April 16, 2024 project was awarded to Traditional Hardwood Floors, awarded amount is $74,156.92.** Description Gym Floor Refinishing 2024 Bids submitted to the City of Columbus must come from the account/digital ID of a person authorized to enter into contract on behalf of the company. Each bid submitted must include a completed Proposal Signature Affidavit. If a bid is submitted from an account/digital ID of a person who does not have the authority to enter into contract on behalf of the company and the company cannot provide the affidavit, the bid shall be deemed nonresponsive. The City of Columbus (hereinafter "City") is accepting bids for Gym Floor Refinishing 2024, the work for which consists of preparing, screening, sanding, athletic line painting, and application/coating of gym floors, stage floors, and/or dance floors at CRPD's recreation centers and facilities and other such work as may be necessary to complete the contract, in accordance with the drawings, technical specifications, plans and City of Columbus Construction and Material specifications set forth in this Invitation For Bid (IFB). The City anticipates issuing a notice to proceed on or about April, 2024. Work shall be substantially complete by September, 2024. All work is to be complete by February 1st , 2025. Questions pertaining to the drawings, plans,specifications, IFB, and/or other contract documents must be submitted in writing to the Department of Recreation & Parks, by email to Jamie Schlichting at JPSchlichting@columbus.gov on or before 2/9/2024. No phone calls will be accepted. The overall MBE goal is 25 percent representing 19 percent for construction and 6 percent for professional services. The overall WBE goal is 19 percent representing 11 percent for construction and 8 percent for professional services. Project Description a. To accommodate facility programs, the selected bidder will only have two (2) working periods to perform all athletic complex work and only three (3) working periods to perform all community center work. b. For the community centers, the first period is 5-25 to 6-2, the second period is 8-17 to 9- 1, and the third period is 11-30 to 12-15. c. The Willis athletic complex must have work completed during 5-20 to 5-25 and the Big Run athletic complex must be completed during 6-3 to 6-7. d. Refer to the Construction Schedule for further information. The bid prices shall include all costs for the material, labor, and equipment as summarized below and as outlined later in the specifications for the work which shall include: i. Protection of the surrounding building amenities. ii. Screening of flooring surface to apply oil based polyurethane finish. Comply with Section -9640 Wood Athletic Flooring & Accessories specification. 1. Screen floor with fine grit pad or screen to abrade surface per MFMA standards. 2. Contractor to refer to manufacturer specification for appropriate grit. 3. Contractor to confirm grit selected adequately abrades surface through small test area. 4. Touchup of all athletic paint markings on floors as shown below and specified in the technical specifications (screening). Lightly abrade after line paint has dried. 5. Application of one (1) coat of new finish. Contractor to confirm application method through small test areas. iii. Sanding of the surfaces to bare wood to apply oil based polyurethane finish. Comply with Section -9640 Wood Athletic Flooring & Accessories specification. 1. Sand floor with coarse, medium, and fine grit paper (3 - passes). Contractor to refer to manufacturer specification for grit steps. 2. Application of four (4) coats of new finish with a ratio of 3:1 sealant to finish. 3. Repaint all existing athletic paint markings and Columbus Recreation and Parks Department logo to center of court as outlined in bid specifications. iv. Add or retouch Basketball/Pickleball/Volleyball/Futsal/Badminton court lines to floors. 1. 2" athletic line. 2. Color varies (contractor to supply paint chip/sample). Paint and finish in accordance with bid specifications. 3. Line layouts and dimensions differ per site. Contractor to refer to the layouts below as basis of design. Confirm all proposed lines with City project manager. v. Add miscellaneous athletic lines to floors. Confirm all proposed lines with City project manager. 1. Line color samples to be provided by Contractor 2. Line color to be selected by City staff 3. Line layouts and dimensions differ per site. Contractor to refer to the layouts below as basis of design. Confirm all proposed lines with City project manager. vi. Add CRPD Logo to floors. Confirm all logos with City project manager. 1. 4 color CRPD logo 2. Approximately 7' x 7' 3. Vectored image of CRPD logo to be provided by City project manager to awarded bidder. vii. Install 3" or 3.5" athletic pole sleeve to floors as directed by City project manager. 1. Model JayPro PVB70S or approved equal. Install per manufacturer's specifications. viii. Spot correct/replace damaged areas of floors as directed by City project manager. 1. Includes removing damaged floor, preparing base for installation, installing matching (to existing) wood floor. ix. Engineering controls for procurement of a safe work environment for the contractor's employees during the work. x. Cleanup of the location to return it to the condition as it was upon the contractor's arrival on-site for the hardwood gym floor refinishing. Base Bid Work a. The Gym Floor Resurfacing 2024 project intends to perform screening services at the facilities listed below. All floors have been measured. However, adjustments in payment may be considered if the actual floor area differs significantly (differs by 5%). Refer to the Invitation for Bid to submit bid prices. b. Screening: Beatty, Dodge, and Marion Franklin were identified as having water-based finish. Screen to apply 2 coats of finish, 1 coat of Radiant H2Oil and 1 coat of Coliseum 350, to convert floor to oil-based finish. c. Lines: Retouch basketball court lines at Glenwood. Remove existing badminton lines, paint new pickleball lines, and retouch basketball lines at Westgate.
