Demolition, new construction and renovation of a mixed-use development in Barrie, Ontario. Design plans call for the renovation of a library; for the demolition of a sidewalk / parking lot; for the construction of a 190,000-square-foot, 10-story above grade, 201-unit multi-residential development; and two-story above grade, one-story below grade, 257-space parking garage.

Future development of the 1.66-acre subject site located along Dean Avenue, and currently containing the Barrie Public Library Painswick Branch, surface parking, and landscaped area. The library and parking are not to be affected by future development. The subject lands are comprised of the landscaped area on the east half of the site. The proposed development would facilitate future highest and best use development and is based on a concept comprised of a 10-storey building with 201 units. The building follows a simple U-shape in levels 3 to 4 which opens towards the library. It also opens on a terrace above the second floor, that provides additional outdoor amenity space. There is one level of underground parking and two levels of above-grade structured parking with a total of 257 spaces for residents and visitors. TIMELINE: Following the mid-April 2024 Cityof Barrie General Committee Meeting, the City-Initiated zoning application has been approved. Concept plans were completed with the zoning application. Contact for the working drawings architect is not released at this time. Schedules for tender and construction have not been finalized.
