Renovation of a multi-residential development in Newton, Kansas. Completed plans call for the renovation of a multi-residential development.
**As of May 8,2024 has no bid accepted. No definite date for the rebid.** The Newton Housing Authority (Owner) will receive sealed bids until the date and time stated above for the Plumbing Modernizations project referenced above. The Work includes; replacement of waste and vent piping throughout the building, misc. replacement of plumbing fixtures, related demo, new flooring as indicated, wall repairs and painting, and other items indicated on the plans and specifications. Bids are to include all necessary labor, materials and equipment. Please note that all bidders should try to attend the Pre-Bid Meeting (attendance is NOT mandatory) and shall verify that they have inspected the existing site conditions prior to submitting their bid. Any bidder who has not visited the site may have his or her bid rejected. For all construction and equipment contracts over $25,000, the bidder shall be required to submit with the bid a negotiable bid guarantee not less than five percent (5%) of the amount of the bid. The bid guarantee shall be a certified check, bank draft, U.S. Government Bond at par value or a bid bond secured by a surety company. The Surety Company must be authorized to do business in the State where the project is located and must be acceptable to the Government. Instructions to Bidders is contained in HUD-5369 "Instructions to Bidders for Contracts - Public and Indian Housing Programs". Satisfactory proof of authorization to sign on behalf of the company is required. The competency and responsibility of bidders will be considered in awarding the contract, and the Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids and waive irregularity in bidding. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bid if reasonable, and if it is in the interest of the Newton Housing Authority to accept it. Attention is called to the provisions of equal opportunity and payment of not less than the minimum salaries and wages as set forth in the specifications. This contract is subject to the conditions of Executive Order 11246, which prohibits discrimination in employment because of race, color, religion, sex or national origin on federal or federally assisted construction contracts. This contract also is subject to the provisions of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. No bid shall be withdrawn for a period of Forty-Five (45) days subsequent to the opening of bids without the consent of the Newton Housing Authority. ase Bid Number 1 - Phases 1 through 3 Work for the Eastern 3/4 of the Building: This is a lump sum bid for the following work items indicated on the plans that are not included in the Alternates Below: 1. For the Eastern 3/4 of the building, replace the plumbing waste and vent lines. This will include but not be limited to trenching a portion of the first floor to remove and replace the underground waste and vent lines with new PVC pipe. Backfill, compact, and repour the concrete floor. Repair and replace finishes on the first floor once the underground work is complete. On all floors the above grade, waste and vent lines shall also be replaced. In general, access to the lines will be from the corridor. Once the piping has been replaced, the corridor sheetrock wall sections shall be replaced, finished and painted. The work also includes replacement of water closets on all apartments in these 3 phases. The project is phased to allow the majority of the occupants to remain in their apartments during construction. The first three phases cover the eastern 3/4 of the building for all floors.
