Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Indianola, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; water / sewer project; and road / highway.
**As of April 9, 2024, the project was awarded to Absolute Group from Granger, Iowa, the contract for a cost of $517,847.65. The engineer’s estimate was $723,425.00.** 1200740 The extent of work on this project includes all materials, equipment, transportation, and labor necessary to complete the improvement generally described as follows: RCB culvert reconstruction, roadway reconstruction, and sidewalk reconstruction, as well as surface and channel grading and restoration along West Clinton Avenue. The project includes approximately 288 SY of PCC pavement, 46 SY of PCC sidewalk, 11 LF of RCP storm sewer, 207 LF of PVC subdrain, 2 fire hydrants, remove 1 valve and 30 LF of water main, 97 LF of 42 chain-link fence, 368 TON revetment, 1,442 SF of Flexamat, 126 CY of structural concrete as part of a 10 x 5 to 6 x 5 RCBC with slope tapered inlet, and miscellaneous associated work, including cleanup. Each bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8, as security that the successful bidder will enter into a contract for the work bid upon and will furnish after the award of contract a corporate surety bond, in a form acceptable to the Jurisdiction, for the faithful performance of the contract, in an amount equal to 100% of the amount of the contract. The bidder's security shall be in the amount fixed in the Instruction to Bidders and shall be in the form of a cashier's check or a certified check drawn on an FDIC insured bank in Iowa or on an FDIC insured bank chartered under the laws of the United States; or a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States; or a bid bond on the form provided in the contract documents with corporate surety satisfactory to the Jurisdiction. The bid shall contain no condition except as provided in the specifications. Each successful bidder will be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to 100% of its contract price. Work on the improvement shall be commenced any time after a written Notice to Proceed is issued, no earlier than April 15, 2024, and no later than August 5, 2024, and shall be completed as stated below. The Notice to Proceed will be issued after the preconstruction conference and after issuance of the United States Army Corps of Engineering Joint Permit for construction activities in the intermittent creek channel. The permit is expected to be issued on or near April 15, 2024. The Contractor shall substantially complete the project within forty-five (45) working days. Substantial completion shall be defined as box culvert completion and all utility, grading, and pavement construction completed, with the new streets and sidewalks fully open to traffic. Temporary stabilization of site soils shall also be completed for substantial completion. Should the contractor fail to substantially complete the work in this timeframe, liquidated damages of $500 per calendar day will be assessed for work not substantially completed within the designated contract term. Final completion of the project, including the punch list, permanentseeding, fertilizing, and mulching, and project acceptance by the Engineer and City shall occur within ten (10) working days immediately following substantial completion or on a specified date if working days have been suspended. Should the contractor fail to achieve final completion in this timeframe, liquidated damages of $500 per calendar day will be assessed for final completion work not completed within the designated contract term. The City of Indianola does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the jurisdiction.
