Project was awarded to Grain Equipment Group, Inc for $32,524.95. As of March 18, 2024, this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for award has not yet been established. The City of Kewanee is accepting sealed proposals for the replacement/refurbishment of the Northside Trash Chute at our Transfer Station, located at 194 Fisher Ave, Kewanee IL 61443. The city intends to review and consider these proposals at the February 26, 2024, City Council Meeting. However, the City retains the right to accept or reject any or all proposals, engage in negotiations with one or more proposers for the desired product, and take actions in the best interest of the City of Kewanee. The city aims to secure the best value and services related to the scope of work, and the selection may not strictly be based on the lowest bid. o Evaluate the current state of the trash chute through a comprehensive inspection. Bidders are responsible for assessing the condition of the existing bracing and framing, undertaking necessary repairs, and implementing reinforcements where required. o Replace the spill/slide segment of the chute, measuring approximately 30'x5.5', with 1/4 " AR450 plate or an equivalent material. o Roll the lower edge of the spill/slide section to minimize potential areas for damage to either the chute or machinery. o Include the installation of the rolled lower edge along the Southside trash chute spill/slide portion to minimize potential areas for damage to either the chute or machinery. o Proposers should be ready to discuss and provide a clear timeline for the repair process. The city aims to minimize the operation/downtime of the transfer station. If the repairs are estimated to exceed three days, the city is open to considering pricing that includes weekend hours. o Furnish evidence of liability and comprehensive workman's insurance. o Incorporate prevailing wage rates into your labor cost calculations. o The city will handle site cleaning and preparation before the commencement of any work.
