The scope of the Henderson Road Drainage, Paving, and Sidewalk Improvement Project consists of first constructing a storm drain system that will replace the open channel currently running along the north side of Henderson and then reconstructing and widening approximately 10,560 feet of Henderson Road between HWY 288 and through the existing intersection of Henderson/HWY 35. The new roadway will be constructed as a four-lane divided curb and gutter boulevard with underground drainage within a new 90' right-of-way, including a 10' shared path and 5' sidewalk. The project will also include additional turn lanes at intersections, three (3) signalized intersections (Valderas, Downing, and Buchta), storm water detention, landscaping, street lighting, and traffic signals, as warranted, as well as construction of various public utilities at some locations. The City of Angleton is currently evaluating and pursuing funding options through the Houston-Galveston Area Council's Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) - as well as other possible funding opportunities - and will be subject to the requirements of federally funded transportation projects as managed through TxDOT's Local Government Participation Project (LGPP) program. The design will be locally managed by the City with TxDOT reviewing and approving the Plans, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E) package. The City anticipates that the project will be let by TxDOT for construction through this program. From this RFQ, the City will select a Primary Design and Engineering Firm, for the project. The project is envisioned to have a Primary Design and Engineering Firm under the direction and management of the City's Projects Department. The Primary Design and Engineering Firm will be responsible for the successful management of the overall design including, right of way acquisition, survey, geotechnical investigation and construction materials testing for the project. In addition, they will be responsible for managing, directing, and coordinating the work of the team of engineering firms and consultants that they assemble for this project. It is anticipated that this contract will include federal funds. The assigned DBE goal for participation in the work to be performed under this contract is estimated to be 15% of the contract amount.
