General description of the work for the Pier 17 Reconstruction Project and the Construction of the New Pier 16: The Pier 17 Reconstruction and New Pier 16 Construction Project is located in the central part of the Port of Trois-Rivières between Piers 19 and 13. It consists of reconstructing the seafront of Pier 17 (length approx. 242 m) which dates from the 1930s, filling an inner basin formed by the current Piers 14, 15 and 16 (surface area of approx.17,000 m2), building a new Pier 16 (length approx.121 m) which will form a continuous line between Pier 19 and Pier 13 located further east, as well as to build the infrastructure required for the replacement and modernization of the alumina and grain handling equipment of Alcoa and G3 operating in this sector of the port. The Project to be carried out includes the main works described below. Please note that the purpose of this description is only to provide a general overview of the scope of the work constituting the Project and covered by this Call for Tenders. The Call for Tenders Documents and the plans and specifications specify in detail the various works to be carried out as well as the requirements of the TRPA with regard to the completion of the Project. The work to be carried out under the Project is broadly described as follows: Construction of a new quay façade made of steel piles over a total length of approx. 365 m, including approx. 245 m in front of the existing platform 17 and approx. 120 m for the closure of the basin. These works include, in particular, the concrete caping wall, the anchor rods, the retaining structures consisting of steel sheet pile anchor walls (length ±95 m), pile retaining beams (length ±127 m) and prefabricated concrete anchor walls (length approx. 131 m), quay equipment (mooring bollards, fenders, ladders, mooring lines), the closure structure at the junction of the new platform 16 with the existing platform 13 and, if required according to the phasing of the work, the temporary closure between phases 1 and 2 of the Project, the removal of submarine piles in the front of the existing Pier 17 and the removal of existing dock equipment affected by the work (mooring guards, mooring bollards, fenders, ladders, etc.); All demolition work required for the construction of new structures (concrete and wood structures, existing networks such as drainage, water, electricity, hydrocarbon, etc.); All required excavation and backfilling work including water control, management and disposal of contaminated materials, monitoring and control of settlements; All environmental monitoring and environmental protection measures; Work to backfill the inner basin (formed by piers 16, 15 and 14) over an area of approx. 17,000 m2; Construction of the foundations of Alcoa's and G3's material handling equipment consisting of concrete structures based on a system of deep foundations on piles. These works include, but are not limited to, the linear foundations of Alcoa's PDPs (length ± 169 m), the foundations of three (3) G3 fixed loading towers, the foundations of the Alcoa and G3 handling galleries, and the foundations of the required complementary facilities; Construction of new storm drainage and water systems for new developed areas; Extension of a storm outfall of the City of Trois-Rivières through the filling of basin 16 (length approx. 165 m); Construction of electrical infrastructure in the areas affected by the work, including the lighting of Basin 16, the underground distribution networks; Earthworks and paving of the areas affected by the works (surface area approx. 32,315 m2); Modification and relocation of underground industrial pipes for the handling of liquid bulk by the Somavrac company at Pier 14.
