The scope of this Contract and its Documents is comprised of removing the existing eave structures, inspecting and repairing deteriorated sections of the existing roof, removing and replacing the existing shingles, adding additional fasteners between the existing decking and purlins, installing steel connections to the roof's superstructure, and supplying Texas Windstorm certification and inspection at Central Pump Station (Pump Station #5) in Port Arthur, Texas. All structural changes and repairs are to be performed in accordance with the specifications set forth in these contract documents and as detailed in the attached engineering report/exhibits from LJA Energy (Attachment 1). The client has requested a solution to the DD7 Pump Station #5 roof decking attachment issues as stated in page 7 of the TWCA FM Global Risk Report Section 10-10-001B, dated January 23, 2020. The solution set forth by FM Global entailed adding L Angle Steel to both sides of each purlin in the roofing structure. This solution presented an issue with the costly and complicated scaffolding system that would be required for installation due to the equipment arrangement inside the pump house. LJA Energy was tasked with giving the client a less complicated and more cost-effective solution, which will be presented in this calculation report.
