This Request for Proposal (RFP) is to obtain bids for mowing maintenance to properties violating the City of San Benito Ordinance #2117. The work will include mowing all established grasses and vegetation within each reported area neatly and professionally. Vegetation in and around structures, sidewalks, trees, parking areas, or similar items shall be mowed neatly and with a string trimmer (weed eater, etc.). The contractor shall neatly cut grass and vegetation to a height requested by the Code Compliance Department. All trash and debris in the mowing area is to be removed before and after mowing by the contractor. Grass and vegetation clippings shall be blown or swept off walkways, driveways, trails, sidewalks, city streets, etc. The chosen contractor must be able to respond to and comply with all elements listed in this section. Failure to comply can and will result in the termination of a bid proposal or service contract. In connection with this RFP, interested Bidders should limit their contact to the City of San Benito by communicating only with Abigail Cantu, Purchasing Agent, at (956) 361-3800 Ext- 221. Contact with persons other than Ms. Cantu regarding this RFP may be grounds for elimination from the selection process. Elements Include: Mowing grass height shall be left at most five (5) inches tall and not mowed lower than two (2) inches. Grass clippings will not be mowed or blown into streets or storm drains. Remove all trash and litter from the site, including sidewalks, curbs, and turf areas. The contractor shall be responsible for properly disposing of all trash and litter. Mowers or string trimmers shall exercise extreme care to prevent damage to trees, light posts, sign posts, etc. Equipment operators shall provide all safety equipment to protect themselves and the public, including safety glasses/vests, cones, signage, and truck and trailer flashers. The selected contractor will be responsible for mowing maintenance services to the City of San Benito for twenty-four (24) months, effective the date of award, subject to the terms herein. The City of San Benito reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids, to waive any informalities, and to get the bid to be the best and most advantageous to the City and to hold bids for ninety (90) days without taking action, to review the bids and investigation of respondents qualifications before award. Bids submitted past the date mentioned above and time will not be accepted. The above-noted information must be included on the bid letter size envelope and any carriers envelope/package. The City of San Benito will not be held responsible for missing, lost, or late mail. The City of San Benito will not accept facsimile or electronic transmission of sealed bids.
