Ordinance 2024-008 Approving an Amendment to Ordinance 2006-059 and Approval of a Final Plan to Allow an Additional Full Access onto S. Malta Road to Accommodate an 8,000 Square Foot Fire Station (City of DeKalb). City Manager’s Summary: The Planned Development Ordinance (Ordinance 2006-059) governing the Glidden Crossing development required approval of a Final Plan for all lots in the subdivision. The City’s commitment to build a fire station on Lot 8 requires a final plat and plan depicting the layout of the new station in relation to neighboring properties. Such plat will of necessity address full access to S. Malta Road as noted above. The apparatus bays will face north to accommodate the full access point at S. Malta Road. There will be a 15-space, off-street parking lot south of the building with access to the northsouth private drive for visitors. Additional access to the north-south drive is also proposed north of the fire station building for non-emergency use. The Planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing regarding the amendment to Ordinance 2006-59 and approval of a Final Plan at their meeting on February 5, 2024. By a vote of 6-0, the Commission recommended City Council approval of a Final Plan consisting of a site plan dated 1-29-24 labeled as Exhibit A and architectural elevations dated 11-14-23 labeled as Exhibit B for the property located at 1130 S. Malta Road subject to the addition of 11 trees along the west side of the site.
