This is a service / maintenance or supply contract in Muscatine, Iowa. Contact the soliciting agency for additional information.
City staff will contact the contractor throughout the season to contract individual mowing, nuisance clean-up or snow/ice removal projects as to abate a City Code violation on a private property. In addition, at the beginning of each mowing season the contractor will receive a list of properties to keep regularly mowed and maintained. Additional properties requiring regular mowing may be added during the season. Similarly, at the beginning of each winter season the contractor will receive a list of properties to clear the public sidewalk of snow/ice after each snow or ice event. Additional properties may be added to the list during the season. Mowing would be to address overgrown vegetation, which is primarily grass and weeds exceeding 8 inches, but can also include unbridled growth of wild vines, shrubs or other vegetation. The work to be completed will include regular mowing of all established grasses and vegetation within each reported area in a neat and professional manner. Vegetation in and around structures, walks, trees, parking areas, sidewalks or other similar items shall be mowed to a neat appearance as well as string trimmed. The contractor shall neatly mow grass and vegetation to a height of 3 inches. All trash and debris in the mowing area shall be removed from the area before and after mowing by the contractor. Grass and vegetation clippings shall be blown or swept off of walkways, driveways, trails, sidewalks, etc. Vegetation clippings shall not be blown or deposited on to city streets. The contractor shall take appropriate photos of each mowing project before and after mowing is completed and photos shall be provided with requests for payment. Nuisance abatement services include removal of downed tree limbs, trash, debris, open storage, and other debris and yard waste when necessary. This may also include minor trimming/removal of tree branches and other items. Nuisance abatement clean-up requests will include a description of the work to be performed. Clean-up actions typically require picking up and hauling to the landfill the following: indoor furniture, appliances and items incorrectly stored outdoors; trash and rubbish; brush piles; auto parts and burn debris. The contractor is not responsible for transfer station/composting fees on clean-up items. Snow/ice shall be removed from the full width of public sidewalks and shall not be dumped on to city streets. If the ice is smooth and hard and not easily removed, such ice shall be covered with salt, ashes, sawdust, or other non-slippery substance sufficient enough to make the public sidewalk a safe passageway.
