The Contractor shall provide clean dirt disposal services as requested by the City, based on the volume and frequency of dirt collection requirements.
The Contractor shall provide at least one site where the City of Newport News can deposit loads of clean dirt. If the Contractor has multiple sites, that is acceptable as well.
The Contractor shall have at least one dump site within a 30 mile radius of 513 Oyster Point Rd, Newport News, VA 23602.
The Contractor shall ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to waste management and disposal.
Clean dirt will primarily be coming from the Storm water, Wastewater, and Streets Maintenance divisions of Public Works, but the contract may also be utilized by other City departments if they have a clean dirt disposal need. Question Deadline: 02/19/2024 at 1:00 PM ET , Questions regarding this Invitation for Bid (IFB) must be submitted in writing through online. All questions submitted and answers provided shall be online. There is not a pre-bid conference scheduled for this project. The City will make Multiple Awards, based on the Total Bid, to the lowest responsive and responsible Bidder. The initial contract period will be for one (1) year from date of award with the option to renew, at the City's sole discretion, for four (4) additional one (1) year periods. A contract extension, under the terms and conditions contained herein, may be considered for up to six (6) months following the end of the final one year renewal period upon mutual agreement of the City and Contractor The Contractor shall maintain adequate liability insurance, which shall protect and save harmless the City of Newport News, Virginia, and its officials from all suits and actions of every kind and description arising from injury or damage to persons and property in the prosecution of said work or in failure to properly safeguard same, and from all claims arising under the workmen's compensation laws. Following award of the contract, the Contractor shall furnish proof of said insurance prior to commencement of services.The Contractor shall maintain adequate liability insurance, which shall protect and save harmless the City of Newport News, Virginia, and its officials from all suits and actions of every kind and description arising from injury or damage to persons and property in the prosecution of said work or in failure to properly safeguard same, and from all claims arising under the workmen's compensation laws. Following award of the contract, the Contractor shall furnish proof of said insurance prior to commencement of services. The City reserves the right to reject any bid in whole or in part and to delete items before making an award when the City determines that any of the bid prices are significantly unbalanced to the potential detriment of the City and for other reasons when in the City's best interest.
