Renovation of an educational facility in Barnstable, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

The Town of Gosnold, Massachusetts, acting through its Board of Education as Awarding Authority (hereinafter, the "Awarding Authority"), invites sealed bids for the repair, improvement, and/or installation of heating, ventilation and air conditioning ("HVAC") system of the Cuttyhunk Elementary School to improve the air quality of the building in accordance with the Scope of Work prepared by the Awarding Authority. Looking for experienced and licensed contractors to implement the recommendations set forth in two HVAC assessments Estimated Cost $25,000 The selected bidder must agree to commence and complete all work contemplated in the Contract Documents and bid between April 1, 2024 and September 30, 2024. Scope- 1. Install an enhanced HVAC system that includes mechanical ventilation for both the "schoolhouse" and the basement as well as a new air source heat pump (mini-splits) to replace the aging fossil fuel oil furnace as well as provide summertime cooling and dehumidification. 2) Any mechanical ventilation system installed must provide both proper space ventilation for the first floor and also provide air turnover for the basement to help mitigate the humidity build up in that space. Unit shall be a 300 CFM residential style energy recovery ventilator (ERV) as manufactured by Zehnder ComfoAir-550 or equal with 200 CFM to be directed to the first floor and 100 CFM be supplied to the basement. 3) Install the ERV from the ceiling in the basement in the general area of the existing oil fired furnace where the existing distribution ducts come together. 4) Replace the majority of the flexible ductwork reusing the existing distribution and return grills. This installation will require inlet and exhaust building penetrations. The inlet shall be at least 10 feet from the exhaust location of any plumbing vent. 5) Provide new 240V single phase circuit for the new air source heat pump and a new 120V single phase circuit for the new ventilator. 6) Air-seal and foam the basement sills and increase insulation levels in the building envelope. 7) Install a 7-day programmable WiFi thermostat control. 8) The unit is expected to run whenever the building is occupied (unless windows are open), and intermittently during unoccupied hours to reduce air stagnation and humidity build up, as well as during periods of high humidity. Please see Weston & Sampson Report Appendix G and H for example equipment selection. 9) The scope of services shall include removal and disposal of any existing system and/or materials necessary to complete the work. 10) The winning bidder must implement, to the greatest extent reasonably possible, the recommendations set forth in the RISE Engineering Elementary School Audit Report dated October 2022 and the Weston & Sampson Assessment Report dated May 2023, both included in this Invitation for Bids package.
