The City of Colonial Heights seeks a contractor to resurface pavement on segments of Dale Avenue, Bermuda Avenue , Maple Grove Avenue, Hillcrest Avenue , Eastman Avenue , Orange Avenue , Ross Avenue and the intersection of Temple Avenue and Charles Dimmock Parkway. The city Engineer reserves the right to modify the project quantities and limits depending on the in-place cost of the work and the availability of funds. Liquidated damages. For this term, Department shall be interpreted as the City of Colonial Heights. The owner reserves the right to reject any bid if evidence submitted by or investigation of such bidder fails to satisfy the owner that such bidder is properly qualified to carry out the obligations of the contract and to complete the work contemplated therein. Conditionals bids will not be accepted. For each and every day that any work remains uncompleted after the contract time specified above, the City will access liquidated damages against the contractor at the rate of thirteen hundred and fifty dollars ($1,350) for each and every calendar day that the work remains uncompleted. Any contract amount over $25,000.00, the contractor must supply the Purchasing Department a copy of their Colonial Heights Business License. Each proposal must be accompanied by a certified check or a bid bond equal to 5% of the bid amount. If awarded the contract, the contractor shall furnish a performance bond and a labor and material payment bond in the amount of 100% the total contract amount. (2 separate bonds). The successful bidder shall commence work within seven (7) days after the Notice to Proceed is given by the City. Once the Notice to Proceed has been issued, the successful bidder shall complete all work by July 31, 2024.
