Site work for a water / sewer project in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The scope of work includes but is not limited to: All work as described in the specifications for the removal of existing water main as outlined in this document and its appendices. The bidder shall furnish all labor, supervision, supplies, tools, equipment, and other means necessary or proper for performing and completing the work. The bidder shall be responsible for the cleaning up of the job site and shall repair or restore all structures and property that may be damaged or disturbed during performance of the work to the satisfaction of the Public Services Department for the City of Kalamazoo. The contractor shall provide a proposal for the above project. Attached is a sketch on the city recorded as-builts with proposed water main, current specifications, survey, and miss dig design ticket information. The proposed schedule is for construction in 2024. Please see below and attached for information regarding the general scope of this project and provide your proposal to me in PDF form via email at your earliest convenience Questions about this IFB should be directed to: Department Contact: Jamie Barnier, Senior Civil Engineer, Water Resources at barniera@kalamazoocity.org The bid must be accompanied by a bid bond which shall not be less than five (5%) percent of the total amount of the bid. No bid will be considered unless it is accompanied by the required guarantee. The bid guarantee shall ensure the execution of the bid and award, and the furnishing of a performance bond and a labor and material bond (A and B below) by the successful bidder. (Contractors Note: A cashier's or certified check in lieu of a bid bond is NOT acceptable.) A performance bond shall be furnished in the full amount of the contract ensuring the City of faithful performance of all the provisions of the contract, and the satisfactory performance of any equipment required hereunder. The bond shall also ensure the City against defective workmanship and/or materials. A labor and material (payment) bond shall be furnished for the period covered by the contract, in the full amount of the contract for the protection of labor and material suppliers and sub-contractors. Bonds shall be secured by a guaranty, or a surety company listed in the latest issue of the U.S. Treasury, circular 570, and licensed to do business in the State of Michigan and written in favor of the City of Kalamazoo. The amount of such bonds shall be within the maximum amount specified for such company in said circular 570. The bonds shall be accompanied by a power of attorney showing authority of the bonding agent to sign such bonds on behalf of the guaranty or surety company. The cost of the bonds shall be borne by the Contractor. Failure of the Contractor to supply the required bonds within ten (10) days after Notice of Award, or within such extended period as the Purchasing Agent may agree to, shall constitute a default and the City of Kalamazoo may either award this contract to the next lowest bidder or re-advertise for bids and may charge against the Contractor for the difference between the amount of the bid and the amount for which a contract for the work is subsequently executed, irrespective of whether the amount thus due exceeds the amount of the bid bond. If a more favorable bid is received by re-advertising, the defaulting bidder shall have no claim against the City of Kalamazoo for a refund. If you have any questions or require further clarification, please contact me via email at barniera@kalamazoocity.org. o Relocate existing 12-inch DIP water main with at least 30-feet deflection over proposed storm with new 12-inch ductile iron water main at the intersection of Squires road at Drake road and H avenue (any slope restoration shall be added conditionally, if needed). See detail. o Replace fire hydrant #2279 and extend the 6-inch DIP hydrant water main with at least 10-feet of ne ductile iron pipe. Hydrant #2279 is located on the Southeast corner of Squires road at Drake road and H avenue (any slope restoration shall be added conditionally, if needed). See detail. o Relocate hydrant #4254, 5-feet North of original location. Hydrant #4254 is located North of the intersection Squires Road at Thistle Mill Court (any slope restoration shall be added conditionally, if needed). See detail. o Relocate existing 80-feet of 6-inch DIP water main and one valve at Inkster Ave Bridge, near Bronson Boulevard. Remove at least (1) one tree (see details of specific tree) conditionally. Replace any embankment restoration and include cost with tree removal conditionally. o Relocate existing 45-feet of 6-inch DIP water main for a critical water service on Church Street at Kalamazoo Ave. Remove and replace sidewalk, driveway, and HMA pavement. (see detail for more description and quantities). o Provide City of Kalamazoo Compliant sketches for the purpose of as-built records. Indicate depth and GPS locations for all water assets.
