Site work and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Healy, Alaska. Completed plans call for the construction of a bridge / tunnel.
Project scope includes but is not limited to construction of a 475-foot-long, single-span steel truss bridge over the Pretty Rocks landslide in the Polychrome Area. Plans include but are not limited to mass earthwork, construct bridge abutments, install a temporary launching system and erection of the bridge. As of July 2, 2024, a general contractor has been selected by United States Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration. Construction is underway and started with abutments and thermosyphons. In 2025, the contractor will continue bridge construction and plans to launch the span across the landslide. In 2026, plans include setting precast bridge approaches, building a retaining wall, installing thermosyphon condensers, coating the bridge deck and demobilization.
