Demolition and site work for a residential development in Tecumseh, Michigan. Completed plans call for the demolition of a residential development; and for site work for a residential development.

All bids shall clearly contain on the outside of the sealed envelope in which they are submitted: DEMOLITION OF STRUCTURE AT 300/317 S. OTTAWA STREET. SCOPE OF WORK The work to be done under these specifications shall include all labor, materials, equipment and services necessary to complete the demolition of the commercial/industrial structure at 300 / 317 S. Ottawa Street, Tecumseh, Michigan. a. Permits: Contractor shall secure all necessary permits (demolition, water/sewer abandonment, etc.). The cost of the Demolition and Water/Sewer abandonment permits issued by the City of Tecumseh shall be waived and should NOT be included in the costs of demolition. b. Demolition of Structure: This removal will include all walls, floors, foundations and footings. All concrete slabs, concrete walkways, miscellaneous shrubbery, fences, steps, etc. will also be included in the removal costs of demolition. c. Dust Control: The Contractor shall provide dust control during demolition of structures to ensure toxic and/or nuisance dust particles to not permeate the air in and around the work site. At Contractor's discretion, City fire hydrants are located at northwest corner of the S. Ottawa / E. Cummins Street where the Contractor may be used for dust control or to fill water tanks. The City can provide a combination water meter and backflow preventer to attach to the nearest hydrant for the Contractor's use. The charge for providing this equipment is provided as attached in the Water Hydrant Meter Rental Form and should be included in the Contractor's bid if intending to request this equipment. d. Sewer and Water Line Abandonment: The sanitary sewer lead and water lead are to be abandoned per City of Tecumseh Utilities Department specifications at the right of way line or water curb box. Measurements shall be recorded and a sufficient marker buried to assist in locating for future development. e. Pre-Backfill Inspection: Once all materials are removed and prior to backfill, contact the City of Tecumseh Building Official for an onsite inspection and approval to backfill. f. Backfill: The backfill shall be Class II Fill Sand compacted to a density of 90% T-99 designation. The Contractor will call the City of Tecumseh Building Official for a backfill inspection to verify compaction. A minimum of two passing tests at various depths will be taken and furnished by the Contractor. The cost of testing will be included in the cost of the demolition. g. Restoration: Site restoration shall consist of fine grading the site to ensure positive drainage and conform to the surrounding sites. Contractor shall apply a minimum of four (4) inches of topsoil and seed and straw mulch all bare earth areas. The bidder agrees that if the City accepts their proposal, the bidder will, within 30 consecutive calendar days after receiving notice of this acceptance, enter into a contract to furnish all labor, equipment and tools necessary to execute the work at the lump sum price named in the bid proposal and will provide proof of insurance naming the City of Tecumseh additionally insured. No work can begin before April 1, 2024 and all work is to be completed by September 1, 2024. The City reserves the right to accept any proposal, to reject any proposal, to waive irregularities in a Proposal, or to negotiate if it appears to be in the best interest of the City of Tecumseh. SITE INSPECTION / INQUIRIES / ADDENDUMS The site of the structure(s) to be demolished will be available for inspection by prospective bidders by appointment. To schedule an appointment or inquiries regarding this bid must be submitted to: Ed Engle, Building Official and Zoning Administrator, and received at least five (5) calendar days prior to the submission deadline. The City reserves the right to reject any or all proposals. Unless otherwise specified, the City reserves the right to accept any item in the proposal. In case of error in extending the total amount of the bid, the unit prices shall govern. Question Deadline 03/16/2024.
